no idea who is at fault in this dispel dice situation but I do know that ppl will take literally any opportunity to be racist toward Chinese people and it makes me so upset
i’ve known my factory contacts for years and have developed great friendly working relationships with them. they’ve encouraged me and helped me practice my Mandarin, we’ve hosted each other in our own countries, we’ve shared food and drinks and laughs and cultures
people who have no experience with manufacturing really think it’s like pressing a “buy” button and your product comes out. NO. your manufacturer and your reps are the ones who are going to help you realize your vision.
they’re engineers and artists and they’re the ones with the knowledge to actually bring your thing to life. if you take the time to build trust and a good relationship you’ll have an amazing partner who is invested in your success.
also people are so quick to criticize Chinese manufacturing and the labor, safety, and environmental practices and pushing for MADE IN THE USA!!!! while ignoring the fact that we deal with most of the same issues
and you absolutely can find ethical, reputable factories to work for if you do your diligence. one of the larger factories I work with no longer produces resin dice despite how popular they are bc of the safety and environmental impact.
also to be clear this thread isn’t directed toward dispel. I do not have a dog in that fight. it’s directed at the people who were saying stuff like “serves them right for manufacturing in China not the US,” “all Chinese factories are IP thieves,” and other racist shit
(I DO have an issue with the “handmade dice” angle which I find a bit disingenuous in how it’s presented but that’s a marketing issue)
