The weird thing about that Lord of the Flies story is that he never really bothers to articulate that maybe LotF is accurate for white people and that these kids weren’t white. Maybe Golding knew his people? But these kids were Tongans. Not his people. Different cultural values.

I find the story of those Tongan men genuinely interesting but it needs to be written by someone who doesn’t suffer from “I don’t see color” and “I don’t see colonialism” lol
