Just to offer a little perspective that "the true owners of BL are straight women":

While disgustingly ignorant, this is not entirely wrong. If you are familiar with the origins of yaoi or BL, they aren& #39;t originally made to tackle LGBT+ issues, queer sensitivity & representation https://twitter.com/BitterS80578329/status/1259324426924912641">https://twitter.com/BitterS80...
Historically-speaking, while BL shows do portray homosexual relationships, it can be argued that they do not necessarily represent gay relationships. Yaoi in Japan was initially created by female writers for a female market and audience for homoerotic fantasies.
Because of this, early Japanese BL employ tropes that are used in straight romance fiction or are designed to appeal to women. BL is simply a utopic illusion of gay relationships that is intentionally and entirely void of queer sensitivities.
Recent prime example of a traditional BL is "2Gether." It simply does not reflect real-world LGBTQ+ struggles of homophobia, social stigma, and filial acceptance; however, it is a good reflection of "sana all" homosocialism: a perfect world of what-it-should-be& #39;s. BUT—
The BL genre has developed away from that traditional yaoi.

For shows like "Dark Blue Kiss (2019) and many recent Thai BLs, it fortunately developed into a story of homosexual relationship struggles, heteronormative expectations, and coming out. It is a lovestory.
While the quoted tweet is riddled with ignorance, homophobia, and apathy, it is also important to acknowledge that the roots of BL is not all pretty. Nevertheless, it transcended its initial definitions and had evolved into something realistic and entertaining.
I am disgusted with him/her/it saying that BL shouldn& #39;t be queer sensitive like its the 70s, and should channel our activism somewhere else but BL, because WHY NOT? Who made the rules?
The art of motion picture is on the right path: to awaken minds and raise awareness. Art should be boundless and unfettered. Ironically, the fact that BL is historically homosocial is already a statement on equality and LGBT+ relationships aren& #39;t "less."
