I just can’t blame people for becoming tired of terror. Your brain is not meant to stay ‘alert’ for so long. It’s not meant to live in fight or flight mode. What motivated people to prolong these behaviours was the belief that the time was not wasted, that it would be worth it.
So you endure this for months, and there’s just... nothing. No plan. No help, nothing. If some people’s brains are giving them a break, forgetting to remain terrified, forgetting to do the things they’re supposed to do, yeah it’s not good. But I don’t fucking blame them.
I’m not saying ‘it’s fine’, before you harp on. I’m not saying ‘let people have parties.’ I’m just saying you’re telling most people to fight their healthy human nature to mitigate risk to survive, which is a mental health issue, and now they’re being told: it’s all pointless.
It’s no surprise to me that the chronically anxious lead the charge of WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE SELFISH PRICKS!!? WHY CAN’T THEY STAY HOME??? And I’m like, well Dan you and I live in fight or flight mode and we’re in therapy. If we could choose life without it, we probably would.
