Comparing the data in #Russia and #Italy indicates that the mortality rate is so low (<1%). Italy probably was only able to diagnose the sick patients. Eradicating the virus in our world is currently mission impossible. Elderly and immunocompromised pts protection is a must.
So rather than focusing on the number of new cases, we have to look into the number of hospital admissions (mainly ICU admissions), and death rates.
Taking into consideration, that many of asymptomatic carriers in Russia might not yet detected dropping the CFR ever lower!
Again, there is no wrong or right answer. Countries that aim to look like China (complete control of the epidemic) know that this is unachievable in the near future. Economy collapse and other health concerns will provoke authorities to change this strategy.
We now have some data revealing that many sick patients were reluctant in seeking advice. Moreover, cancelling elective procedures, delaying vaccination, child and domestic abuse, delaying cancer screening impact is tremendous and will likely affect our lives for many years.
