I started making a set of timbered housing yesterday! The shells are foamcore and I have included some cool resin doors I bought from Tiny Furniture last year. Next step is the timber work

I always liked the houses in the tutorial in White Dwarf back in the day, and these will be very much along those lines. Here& #39;s a couple I made a couple of years ago which I sold. As well as the town houses and hut, I& #39;m drawing up the plans for an Inn

For the Inn, I started with the roughest of rough sketches, & you can see I changed my mind & added an extra floor. Couple of resin doors from Tiny Furniture & Zealot, & plasticard from GSW which I want to use. I have started drawing the bits on graph paper

... Then I used the graph paper drawing as a template and transferred it to the foamcore with dress pins, then joined the dots

... And cut the pieces out with a scalpel and steel rule. I mounted the doors at this point. I have glued the pieces together with PVA and secured them with pins. The roof base is just box card

... Next I added a staircase, again I used the graph paper drawing as a template and cut the pieces out of foamcore, then added card steps - these are just supporting the next bit

I wanted the lower part of the walls of the ground floor to be stonework, so I& #39;ve used some @greenstuffworld textured plasticard and filled the gaps at the corners with plastic putty

I created flagstones for the surrounding area and the stairs using Fimo clay and a @greenstuffworld terrain roller

I made a simple chimney by sandwiching two pieces of foamcore together and wrapped them in Fimo clay, then I used a spare bit of the textured plasticard to imprint a stone texture

... And I think that& #39;s as far as I will get with it today!
Next step will be to add the timber work using balsa wood.
While I was doing all this, I also added flagstones to the bases of the other houses, so I think I& #39;ll do all the balsa work on them together.

Lack of sleep last night, I don& #39;t have a painting brain today, but I can just about deal with sticking balsa wood to the Inn

It& #39;s starting to look proper now & I& #39;m making the windows as I go. I& #39;m using plastic cross-stitch grid to replicate the leading.

That& #39;s the timber work mostly done, I also added a dormer to the side of the roof which needs a bit of wood on the sides. The roof join is a bit gappy but it& #39;s going to be covered by the tiles later on so it doesn& #39;t matter

... So the next step is to texture the lathe and plaster panels, which is likely the last bit I& #39;ll do today.
I& #39;ve timbered one of the town houses too, but I don& #39;t really have time to do the other 2 today

... To get the texture, I& #39;m using Vallejo ground texture which is great for all sorts of textures. I have applied it to the side of the stairs much more thickly to get a rough plaster look.
That& #39;s as far as I& #39;ll get today, to be continued later in the week

Right! Onto the roof tiles

I made the tiles from thin card, drew a 1cm square grid & cut into strips then cut the line most of the way to make a line of tiles, then starting at the bottom I glued them to the roof.
