Ya'll are getting BOLD. Lemme educate you real quick. The general term 'BL' or 'Shonen ai' was pioneered in the 70's by the Year 24 Group in Japan which consisted of all women. Takemiya Keiko was among the group and contributed to publishing https://twitter.com/BitterS80578329/status/1259324426924912641
the first manga that depicted a kiss between two men. This broke GROUND in Japan. It was the catalyst for many more same-sex works to be created within the manga community at the time. With that being said, the creators of these new works, a lot of the time, were ANONYMOUS
(to keep their identites hidden). This means, that we truly don't know how many works were originally created by women and how many were created by MEN. The Year 24 Group were not the only ones creating this content. Additionally, if you think that it was as socially acceptable
for men to openly write, illustrate, and purchase lgbt content in Japan, in the 70's, then you're sadly mistaken. So, to say that because a straight women created a 'GENRE' (remember she created the genre not the people who she told the stories about...)
that it gives you the right to tell us that we should have no opinion on something that depicts OUR LIVES....that's nonsense. You should seriously be ashamed. Gay peope are NOT a fetish. It's NOT a fantasy. We don't exist merely for your entertainment. And at the end of the day,
these fictional stories represent an entire community. Regardless of what you think, they DO shape how non-lgbt people view the LGBT community. If someones gonna tell our stories, then sis, they need to at least try and do it right. And YOU should have no say in how we feel.
PERIOD. Shit's getting outta hand. If you're homophobic, please stop this madness. I can't deal with ya'll.
I also just wanna say that I'm referring to manga because it was how the genre originally 'began.' The genre 'bl' overtime branched out to other countries in the forms of comics and novels which lead to the series' we have now which are usually adapted from those novels.
