Today I am scared. I am worried that we are complaining and condemning ourselves into a possible second wave. While people were observing lockdown (or the essence of it) and the message was blunt, we managed at huge cost to get the infection rate down. I fear us losing this.
Of course Johnson will tell us this evening what the plan is, but it has to be good and convincing and we have to cut the government some slack to deliver it. If we condemn it out of hand we aren't left with a better plan, we're left with no plan.
This is not an argument for relaxing scrutiny or inhibiting positive criticism, but it is a fear that a barrage of negativity will affect our capacity to implement any coherent plan.
Finally, I am worried enough now to think that maybe having Labour join the government and add its talents and perspective to the battle of the next 18 months would be a necessary idea.
