Victory Day celebration must be inclusive. Acknowledging that the Soviets paid the butcher's bill doesn't diminish the importance of the Western front. Majority of the soldiers that executed the crucial Operation Dragoon were from then French colonies in Africa & the Carribbean.

In 2014, then French President François Hollande described Operation Dragoon as the pivot, which had "enabled France to become what it is today."
