So there was this time, around 08/09, I had just cleared campus. Me and my pal had gone to pick some stuff around Tea Room area, and on the way back, we decided to use those chochoros that connected you to Odeon. You know, those that had keg joints, Casks, etc.
I was still a “yoyo”, and used to wear those oversized clothes, Timberland boots, et al
My friend on the other side ni mtu wa tight jeans, sahunya, jamaican colors bead chain, with ka weed thingy hapo
We were carrying those big green PIL paper bags that had calendars on them. We had gone to get some cables, clips, ties, hammer and electrical kinda stuff, for a networking gig we had landed.
So, coming towards the end of the ka-chuom, two guys in plain clothes approached us, grabbed the paper bag, threw it on the pavement, pulled out pistols, pointed them at our backs, pinned us to the wall and started frisking us
The ka back street immediately became empty. Wueh! I have never been so scared
Kidogo kidogo, two more guys come running from the other side trying not to be so loud, “sio hao, sio hao!!!”
The first guys then just left without saying a word. I still think we deserved and apology.
The new guys picked up out stuff, checked what was inside and apologized zile za “poleni, unajua si tuko tu kazi”.
They asked where we were going and they decided to carry our stuff and give us a push. Of course with kidogo interrogation along the way.
They took till somewhere around the Nakumatt that burnt down (it was still there then) and told us to stay safe, gave us our stuff back and left.
