That creep was only a successful murderer because it was the 1970s. There was no police technology. Hell, "serial killer" wasn't even a term yet. If he came out today he'd be nothing. He's like The Beatles of murder.

Nobody in the 70s locked their doors. People would casually hitchhike. Police districts had zero communication with one another. Forget DNA evidence, they didn't even have *fax machines*.

Being a murderer in the 70s was fucking easy mode and this dumbass got arrested *3 times*.

This asshole was such a narcissist that he took control of his own defense trial and lost multiple times because he was an idiot. Got double life sentences.

He wanted to be in control so bad that before they executed him he was like "Ok I did it. Let me live and I'll tell you all the details of the crimes. Get me the governor!" and they were like "cool actually we're just going to murder you since you confessed you giant moron."

People didn't think "handsome, charming people could be murderers" so he was a big media sensation since he "looked normal."

Nowadays "Superficially charming psychopath" is a stock murderer profile. He codified the standard but. He's the goddamn Seinfeld of serial killers.
