On this day in 1940 Germany invaded the Netherlands. The Nazi invasion of 750,000 men was opposed by an obsolete Dutch army of 280,000 men. The battle was lost and the country was occupied for five years. During these five years 210.000 Dutch inhabitants were killed. #WW2

The airborne attack on The Hague failed. Many German paratroopers or Falschirmjäger were taken prisoner of war. On the 14th of may around 1200 German prisoners, mostly paras, were evacuated to Great Brittain. #WW2
