This story alleges that Mustafa al-Kadhimi was ‘auditioned’ by Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut in late February for the job of Iraqi PM. I’m north of 50 percent sure that it is false. But who’s peddling this falsehood: the Itila’at or Qods Force? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/09/iran-iraq-khadimi-control-middle-east-suleimani
“What now?? Why ask whether it’s Itila’at or Qods?” Well, it’s really an interesting question and the answer will be revealed in good time. For now suffice to say that this deal for al-Kadhimi or the Zurfi one before it were not brewed in Beirut.
I’ve heard allegations that there are some close to al-Kadhimi that maybe close to Lebanese Hezbollah. But to go to Beirut and get auditioned by Nasrallah? Nah, doesn’t fit. And the whole Kawtherani slipping into Soleimani’s role doesn’t ring true either for me.
