I'm glad that these extremely problematic and sexist Malayali takes are being called out and addressed now.
Kerala might be literate and prosperous, but we still have a long way to go.

Many of my friends have been put through s lot of emotional abuse because of takes like this one.
'Hes doing it because he loves you. Try to understand.'

My first brush with this kind of sexism was when I was studying at CET (one of the best engineering colleges in Kerala).
Any girl who spoke out confidently (esp. in English), dressed nicely or hung out with dudes was systematically harassed and put down.
It was horrific.
