2/ If we really wanted to remove the stain of racism from the SBC, perhaps we could sit down with African American Christians and ask them why they don’t vote for Republicans the way we do? Maybe hear their theological concerns? Perhaps there is more than one view?
3/ I have SERIOUS theological and political problems with Democrats. I get it. But, any basic reading of the Bible should have one asking significant questions of Republicans as well. We should speak prophetically to both and give neither our allegiance.
4/ A thorough critique of Dems to point out where they fall short or run afoul of historic Christianity is totally appropriate. But, doing that from a camp inside the GOP without recognizing that both fall short and are out of step with the ethics of God’s Kingdom is an error.
