Kpop artists who take breaks for their mental health are not only helping themselves but encouraging fans and other artists in an industry in which it is still taboo or overlooked. It can also shed more light towards the importance of this to companies to give adequate support.
To be honest those who have so far have been part of hugely successful groups who arguably may feel more confident or supported however, its a step at a step and any progress is progress. I hope it becomes a norm for kpop companies to monitor mental and not just physical health.
Our minds are our thoughts, our energy and our being! the brain is an organ just like any and needs care and health. The stigma shouldn't even exist, just like we could break an arm, we could hurt our mind & emotions. This is important because it is the centre of our functioning.
Our mental health IS our physical health in a way. There are countless physical symptoms and affects on our body to the point where one may even experience pain (everyone can relate to feeling sick or unmotivated from stress but this is constant).
side note for those who are also tackling mental health & gathering courage or trying to explain to fam: empathise the brain being an organ in which we could also hurt & the chemicals or even shape can shift. This is why we tackle symptoms/cause via therapy or sometimes need meds
^ Of course it is more complex than the above but this is sometimes the most effective/the gateway to prividing a bitesize understanding to those who do not even believe mental ilness exists (or neglected their own).
