This thread is extremely why I find it SO CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT for everyone to be explicitly on the same page about what they want out of a game when deciding if to play together.

I'm struggling with this right now in exactly the opposite direction
(Alex, we should swap friends) https://twitter.com/dirtbagboyfren/status/1258949098176053248
I'm trying to put together a game that's basically collaborative storytelling & needs to be the right mix of personalities, interests, desires, styles, & approach & I'm really struggling with not defining what my goal is through describing what I DON'T want
Which leads to extended conversations about the worth of the things I'm trying to get away from, arg

Which is so far from the point I don't even know what to do
I'm finding that I don't know how to not get hung up on a ~debate about rulesets & approach when I just

I don't wanna play d&d, I don't care why you like it, I'm so glad it makes you happy, but I don't wanna! Please stop defending or evangelizing it to me!
(I also have this problem with some things about fandom

So clearly I need to learn a better way to say "gosh I'm tired of X, can we do not-X for a bit please? I would find it a refreshing change" because wow is this not working as-is)
