I just got the most stunning phone call. If you've been following my work on deaths in long-term care, you probably should read this.

It's Saturday evening. I get a call from the Ontario Health Coalition director. She asks why I have been attacking them on Twitter.
This is a bizarre question, as I've never attacked the OHC. I've been frustrated that I wasn't given credit in their LTC/privatization report release, but the data and work is good and important.
I explain this. She disagrees. How dare I attack them. I was given credit! I'm in a footnote. I admit I haven't had time to read the report but that, even so, the number of deaths was literally my work (like, I've been in touch almost daily) and that it sucked I wasn't given cred
The call gets more aggressive. She accuses me again of attacking the OHC on twitter. Some members of the board said they were concerned that I hadn't gotten credit (a LIE! I'm in the footnotes!) My kids and partner are staring at me as I listen.
Now -- I'm pretty sensitive about all of this. I have been doing so much work on this and have gotten so little credit, that the nerve of this woman to call me and ... I'm not sure what ... apologize to them? Because they footnoted me? So I went into a full-on attack.
How dare anyone question my right to be frustrated with the lack of credit. The stunning lack of shame displayed by this lady! Never did they offer to pay me. She even tried to say that my numbers were only one column of many! I don't deserve what I say I deserve!
I wont lie. That call made me collapse. My kids have never seen me respond to anyone like that. I am fully shocked that someone who is apparently leading a progressive organization would have the nerve to call me and be so aggressive out of nowhere. So I replied in kind.
If you're on the board of the Ontario Health Coalition, hold your director accountable. If she responded to me like this, I can't imagine how she operates in even more stressful situations than releasing a report.
Because I absolutely - a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y - do not need this kind of nonsense.

You don't have to like me. But if you use my research for a groundbreaking report, and then you don't credit me (other than a footnote!), expect me to say something about it.
And don't call people on a random Saturday night cruising for a bruising. There's no point.
Post-script -- the footnote isn't even a proper credit! They credit me for 2 columns of their datasheet, even though they started with my 6 (of their 11) columns and filled in maybe half the spaces I hadn't yet filled. Official credit for wrong data? lol
And, it references one of my employers which I didn't do the work for.

If only they had taken what she claims to have taken seriously, seriously. smdh

Anyway. This lady, man.
