A few positions I think we need strengthening in in the summer and a few players that I think would be great in those positions
Striker - Murray's surely in his last year, Maupay needs some competition, Andone and Locadia aren't returning.
Striker 1:
Habib Diallo (24) - Metz
26 goals 6 assists in Ligue 2 last season, has taken the step up to Ligue 1 with ease, 12 goals from an xG of 9.17. Reportedly valued at £18m.
Striker 2:
Ollie Watkins (24) - Brentford
Switched position to striker this season, Brentford had a shortage of strikers after selling Maupay. Consistent for the last few seasons. 22 goals 4 assists this season, fills up a homegrown spot, and linkup with Maupay would be amazing.
Striker 3:
Josh Maja (21) - Bordeaux
Sunderland til I die star, has become a solid striker, with 6 goals from an xG of 3.47. A good option, with experience in a top 5 league as well as in the EFL. Would cost £10-£12m imo.
Striker 4:
Karlan Grant (22) - Huddersfield
Did well last season to make the step up from League 1 to the Prem, scored 4 in half a season for 20th place Huddersfield. This season they sit in 18th, but Grant is still 4th top scorer in the league with 16 goals. £8-£10m
Winger - Can see Izquierdo leaving in the summer, Jahanbakhsh has been alright but not great. We need another winger and I can't see Knockaert returning after an emotional goodbye last summer.
Winger 1:
Milot Rashica (23) - Werder Bremen
Starting off with a slightly unrealistic one. Rashica has scored 7 and assisted 4 for second-bottom Werder Bremen, from an xG of 4.94. Apparently available for just £13m if Werder Bremen get relegated, which is likely.
Winger 2:
Jeremie Boga (23) - Sassuolo
Has had a great season in Italy with 8 goals and 2 assists from left wing. Chelsea are reportedly interested, and have a buy back clause of just £15m for him. Would cost £20m+ imo
Winger 3:
Matheus Pereira (24) - West Brom, on loan from Sporting
Has had an amazing season with 2nd place West Brom, with them reportedly interested in making the loan deal permanent. Has scored 6 and assisted 13, worth £15-£20m imo, maybe a bit more.
Winger 4:
Said Benrahma (24) - Brentford
Another Brentford player in this list, the Messi of the Championship and is definitely ready for the step up to the Prem. With 10 goals and 8 assists so far, I'd say he's worth £20m.
The Dale Stephens role - Stephens does what he does brilliantly and has really improved under Potter, but he's 31 this year and his contract runs until 2021, so we'll need to look at finding a replacement.
Will do the players in the morning
Midfielder 1:
Marc Roca (23) - Espanyol
Another unrealistic one, as he has been linked with much better teams. Roca has a pass accuracy of 83.4%, and his defensive stats are very similar to Stephens'. Roca would be a class signing but he's also linked with Bayern and Arsenal.
Also, he probably has a cheap relegation release clause.
Midfielder 2:
Diadie Samassekou (24) - Hoffenheim
Was brilliant for RB Salzburg for the last few seasons, signed with Hoffenheim but hasn't had much game time because of injuries. He's a very good player and can control the midfield. £15-£20m
Midfielder 3:
Isaac Hayden (25) - Newcastle
A very good player, has said that he'd like to move south to be with his family. Can see Newcastle looking to replace him in the summer if the takeover goes through. Price will be higher than other centre mids because he's English.
Midfielder 4:
Ibrahim Sangare (22) - Toulouse
Won't cost a lot because Toulouse have been relegated, tall, young, has experience in a top 5 league. Around 1/6 of Toulouse's passes per game are made by him. Is a very good option. Would cost <£15m imo.
Left back - Bernardo is very good, don't like playing Burn at left back, I prefer him at centre back. Cox will leave for Sittard in the summer, maybe we'll see Cochrane play a bigger role. But, if we don't, then we'll need a backup for Bernardo.
Left back 1:
Antonee Robinson (22) - Wigan
Had a move to AC Milan collapse in January, hasn't featured since then because of a groin injury, but deserves to take the step up to the Prem. I'd say around £6m, cut price due to injury and the transfer market collapsing due to covid.
Left back 2:
Ryan Manning (23) - QPR
Manning has switched position from centre mid to left back this season with ease, scoring 2 and assisting 5. Good defensive stats and good passing stats, contract runs out in 2021. I'd say £6m again.
Left back 3:
Max Lowe (22) - Derby County
Another player who's contract runs out in 2021, Max Lowe has performed brilliantly week in week out. He excels at tackles, with 3.7 per game, and averages 1 key pass per game (Bernardo makes 0.3). I'd say he's worth £5m+.
Left back 4:
Christopher Operi (23) - Chateauroux
Has had a great season in Ligue 2 and is now linked to lots of Ligue 1 teams. Good at crossing, as well as interceptions and tackles. Would be a very good option especially as his contract expires so we can sign him on a free.
