Someone just tagged me in a tweet about it being ‘unfair’ to expect feminists/women not to participate in a sexist institution. I really want to fight y’all sometimes You know you can commit to someone without marrying them, right? Right??

Said it before and always gonna say it. Straight women, especially feminists, *really* need to have an honest conversation amongst themselves about why marriage means so much to them + how they can define themselves outside of the possibility of becoming wives/‘having a man’.

You can have love, partnership, ceremony, celebration, companionship, support — all of those things. You can fashion your long term commitment to someone you trust, completely on your own terms. You can build literally *anything*, but you wanna fight for sexist scraps?
