Game Theory: Despite different writers throughout the years, Sonic the Hedgehog's character and speech throughout the years is actually logical (if unintentional) character development
Classic era: Sonic was born. He's a lil baby boy who doesn't know how to talk yet, so he pantomimes his emotions. His first words were "I'm outta here"
Adventure era: Sonic learns to talk, but his speech is awkward, sometimes even talking over others. After hanging out in cities for so long, he picks up on "radicool" lingo. He's your typical kid trying to be cool and hip
Late 00's era: Sonic begins to understand language better. Now that he can talk coherently he takes Eggman and his threats WAY more seriously, but he is having trouble letting go of some of his awkward speaking habits from his Adventure days.
Present: After fighting Eggman for so long, Sonic has realized that he's really not that good of a villain and takes him way less seriously... kinda like a "frenemy"

He's finally capable of speaking properly, but he's tired of this shit... so he starts being snarky to cope
