People out here behaving like the rona is history. I’m staying the course on my safety routine
Bear with my rant but I just don’t get it. We (as in USA), got caught unprepared. The death toll is what, 80K? After weeks of quarantine the curve has somewhat flattened. As far as hospitals and ICUs go, we kind of managed to not overwhelm them, minus notable exceptions
That’s the (somewhat) good part. Now for what I think is the scary part. Latest reports seem to point to a spread in small towns and rural America. I read somewhere (reputable) that the virus mutated to a more contagious European strain that’s the dominant one across the world
Some countries are on way up in number of cases, notably India. The virus has not left. The virus has not reduced in intensity. The virus has no cure, no vaccine. Meanwhile because people wanted a hair cut and vanilla isis armed with AKs marched on capitols, America has reopened
Contrary to official claims, this is a full blown reopening. People are walking around with no masks. While establishments are maintaining social distancing, people are becoming nonchalant.
Another worrisome phenomenon is the rise in YouTube conspiracy theories. In the past your loony friends and family used to share those. Nowadays you see people you considered “intelligent” devolve into conspiracy theories
How to deal with this? I’m not an expert in any of the fields (epidemiologist, economist, public health) related to current situation, you should listen to a consensus of experts on these matters.
What I know is to manage my own risk. Continue avoiding crowds, anyone not living in the same house is a stranger aka avoid, avoid enclosed spaces, wear masks when outside, wash hands, avoid touching face. Avoid individual opinions, miracle cures, conspiracy theorists, anarchists
Basically everything involves reducing risk of exposure while understanding that nothing is fool proof. Stay safe y’all
