Oh boy. Time to have this conversation again. First of all, entire thread from pig presented here so he and his fans can't complain. Anyway, let's talk about parasocial relationships (the real kind) and power dynamics.

Parasocial relationships refers to when one person feels a connection to an individual that doesn't know there even is a connection. In this case, a YouTuber and fans. The fans has watched his videos and maybe even gotten replies on the fan discord. They feel a deep connection-

-to the YouTuber. This isn't inherently bad and is pretty common. However, this relationship can be exploited. In this case the YouTuber announces he wants a "harem." 'Well shit heres my chance,' she may think. But she enters feeling a strong devotion to him and he feels nothing-

-I'll also assume this "harem" wasn't well planned and this could easily devolve into a competition for favoritism. Especially because of the power dynamics. In a healthy relationship, power should generally be equal or close to it. This prevents one party from easily using-

-abuse tactics by using things like fear/shame or distance/pursue angles. Now, we have a YouTuber who has a poorly designed "harem" with a underlying pursuit dynamic and is known for his long, scathing videos dragging people though the mud. Things like this are just bound to-

-collapse in on themselves. The relationships were not built normally or healthily. There was an abuse of power involved. And there's now problems arising from it all. Tldr, YouTubers should not date fans. I thought we learned all this from ProJared. The end.

Jesus, I didn't even cover this whole "harem" idea itself. A polyamorous relationship built around one cis guy and women who are subservient to him really shouldn't even be considered a polyamorous relationship as much as an abuse of power.

According to the girl that left, pig mentioned getting a big house for all the girls to live with him in. Something happened in the group and she left. Then pig basically told her she lost her chance to live in the harem house. Jesus-fucking-Christ, dude. Do I even need to go on?

Honestly, this requires more than a Twitter thread to fully dissect and I don't think I could do it justice. There are way better people to talk about this with way more knowledge than me. But Jesus, you don't even have to know much to see how entirely fucked up this is.

I wanted to add some clarification. I played into Pig's framing of her as some angry harpy or something. I feel bad about that. Most of her anger/sadness came from when he promised the chance at housing. She had a breakdown and she was kicked out of the group.

Pig went into DARVO mode after that. Deny he said that. Attack her credibility. Claim he was the one being abused by her.

I also want to clarify that the girls weren't completely subservient to him.

I wrote the rant quickly, and obviously angry. I should have gotten more clarification before writing it. Especially since I knew this would leave my followers and go elsewhere.
