If y’all weren’t so COLONIZED, you’d know that snakes are symbols of wisdom, fertility, protection and immortality.
If you guys have any positive stories about your culture’s history with snakes, please feel free to tell them! I’d love to hear it 🥺🤲🏾
For my culture (Filipino), many different provinces have their own interpretation but the most positive one is that serpents represent feminine energy, as they are protectors of the Earth’s tree of life (centre of the universe) who could also be personal guardians in battleS!
My favourite tale, although it may not be the most positive, is the story of Eclipses. Bakunawa, a sea serpent, twin to a sea turtle. Her sister would lay her eggs on several islands but each time, the water would follow her and we killed her for fear of our islands being flooded
In retaliation, Bakunawa swallowed six of our seven moons but Filipinos would bang their pots and pans to scare her and she would regurgitate them (an Eclipse) before returning to the sea. Other versions suspect HE loved the moons and wanted to keep them forever!
I don’t want anyone to feel intimidated by my tweet, I meant it in a joking way but also just wanted to force you to look into why your initial association is negative when your roots may feel differently 🥺 Learning your blood’s true power without the influence is LIMITLESS!
