1)So I remember sitting at VMC during the early Seattle outbreak waiting in the ER waiting room. It was sectioned off for with and without symptoms. It was a stressed environment. They were pros though. Not sure layperson could tell how different it was but I was listening close
2) two triage nurses were discussing events that were days old like they had just heard. Apparently they were a little busy. As I waited a cleaning crew lady came out and was cleaning all the chairs. I was thinking you may wanna go to that row over there (guy was vomiting a lot)
3) she did (whew)...as she got to my row I moved my bag so she could get around me and I said thank you. She gave me this big smile (mask was covering but there is no mistaking a big smile like that mask or not) and said “no problem. I can work around you” and went on her way.
4) I remember thinking about the value of her job right then and how brave it was and to have that big of a smile under those circumstances. How she casually moved around the room unnoticed and weaved in and around all the “noise”.
5) so I wanted to say thanks to all the non medical workers at our hospitals. You’re not unnoticed. And I wanted to share this article because the risk is taking a toll on you as well. Thanks for keeping us safe https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/04/nyregion/coronavirus-ny-hospital-workers.html
