Keiji had whispered them, soft and gentle in the dark room, “Bokuto-san,” he whispers against chapped lips and his eyes drift down to them before looking back at golden eyes. “Don’t go where I can’t follow.”

And then, rough and cracked, he whispers again, “Please.”
Keiji looks at Koutarou now and feels his heart ache and he thinks to himself, when did bokuto-san ever listen? when did Koutarou’s eyes ever look at Keiji’s like he’s someone new—someone different? Keiji looks at him and is taken back to the time
when Koutarou had gently kissed his knuckles and whispered to him how he was koutarou’s everything, how keiji had looked at koutarou with stars in his eyes and how koutarou had whispered back against his neck of how he’d steal all the stars for keiji.
Keiji stares at the man in front of him and feels his heart jump around his chest, throat tightening and tightening until he covers his mouth. He feels like he’s about to puke his heart out—puke out his feelings and emotions just for Koutarou.
“Bokuto-san,” he cries out softly and golden eyes look at him and Keiji—Keiji looks away from them in anger and hurt. “You promised me.”

“Akaashi,” Koutarou’s voice is rough and pitying, touching Keiji’s wrist and Keiji pulls away in shock. “Akaashi, please—”
“No,” Keiji gasps out and moves away and Koutarou moves even closer and Keiji shakes his head. “Stop,” he croaks out and Koutarou looks at him in regret and hurt. “Don’t—no,”

“Keiji,” Koutarou gasps out and Keiji blinks away his tears and rubs at his eyes in shock and anger.
“Please—Akaashi—Keiji, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t touch me,” Keiji gasps out, shaking his head, “you promised me!”

Koutarou doesn’t listen—leans closer and closer and grabs Keiji’s wrists and forces him to look at him.
Keiji’s eyes had always looked beautiful; even when they were filled with tears. “Keiji, please? Please, listen to me.”

“No,” Keiji sobs out then and Koutarou’s heart breaks, flood upon flood of regret and sadness crashing in his chest. “You promised me—”
“I’m sorry, please,” Koutarou’s hands move away from his wrist and cups Keiji’s face. “Please, listen to me.”

“You promised!” Keiji sobs out again. “You promised me you wouldn’t time travel in Animal Crossing!”
“Keiji, please!” Koutarou cups his face even tighter and brings their forehead together. “I’m sorry!”

“Don’t touch me,” Keiji hisses out and slaps away Koutarou’s hands away from his wrists. “I hate you.”
Koutarou’s arms wraps around Keiji’s shoulders and he hushes him, pushing Keiji’s face against his neck and he sniffles. “I love you, Keiji,” he whispers and feels his heart ache at how Keiji sniffles. “I’m sorry.”
