Oh great. If UK’s #corona app is still in place next January (after Brexit deadline finishes), all of the data shipped to EU for “data processing” will likely not be legally able to be returned to UK b/c London unlikely to have legal agreement in place for that to happen
Bare with me: currently there is no legal agreement in place for EU “data processor,” basically ppl who crunch data on behalf of someone else, to move that data to UK “data controller,” or person legally in charge of that data
If Uk can hammer out data-transfer deal with EU by December 31, that may be allowed, keeping the UK’s #corona app ticking over — if it’s still needed come end of year
If not (and it’ll likely take 12+ months for data agreement to be negotiated), all the UK data shipped to EEA for “processing” will be stick there — even if it’s held by tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft or Google
Gotta love a Brexit angle to #covid-19, amirite?
Right, back to the sunshine.
