I have a theory....

Military coups crowded out our knowledge of the right kind of history.

The likes of IBB, Buhari & OBJ are not supposed to be our mainstream historical figures.

We should instead have been learning more about Enahoro, Awolowo, Ransome Kuti, Ahmadu Bello etc.

Those guys were professional types who had proper careers before and after politics.

Instead the military guys introduced us to the phenomenon of government contractors.

So these days, the dominant narrative is one has to make money 'sharp sharp' via contracts or politics...
