Public Speaking is the skill that transformed my life đź‘Š

I went from quaking in fear to a national competition winner and stand-up comedian

I've spoken to thousands and want to share how you can to

I’ll teach you the 7 tips that transformed my abilities:
1-Speak slower
2-Visualise success
3-Tell a story
4-Ask interesting questions
5-Strong eye contact
6-Get in a flow state
7-Practise
1-Speak slower

When you think you’re talking slow, speak even slower

Watch the great speeches of history

They’re all slow yet passionate

Cut out all filler words
2-Visualise success

Before any event, visualise yourself smashing it

Know that everyone in the audience wants you to succeed

How it will feel when you crush it?

Focus on the positive emotions
3-Tell a story

Your audience wants to be entertained

Use your voice to paint a picture for them

Define an interesting problem at the start

Solve it for them through the speech

Let your voice roll like a wave
4-Ask interesting questions

Every ten minutes, ask a question that really makes your audience think

Pause and let them think it over

e.g. “When was the last time you read a book that truly changed how you view life?”
5-Strong eye contact

Choose three different people in the audience

You’re going to make eye contact with them for the rest of the speech

Judge their reactions. Are they bored, happy, curious?

Tailor your approach to keep them in your desired state.

You control the room
6-Get in a flow state

Have a pump-up song you listen to before every speech

Strike a power pose

Do a few pushups or go for a jog that morning

Get in a zone where you know you will succeed
7-Practise

It’s cliché but practise makes perfect

Spend time in your room reading your speech out loud

Record yourself and be your own worst critic

Perform it to some honest friends

Get feedback

Don’t be afraid to rewrite

Strive for perfection
