This creates a massive equity issue. Not all students have the ability to login live at a prescribed time when many are sharing devices with working parents and/or siblings, or, like my son, have a part time job.
but the suggestion that teachers conference one-on-one with students is highly problematic and very inadvisable for so many obvious reasons.
On top of that, what about teachers who have their own children who need attention? You can't mute a toddler who is crying or monitor what your own child is doing during their own online lessons if you are teaching your own students on live video.
I can also see the potential for older students to manipulate the situation e.g. take screenshots of their teachers during lessons and distribute them on social media - can you imagine the memes?
It is a completely ludicrous for the Minister of Education to expect synchronous teaching from all teachers. The whole idea is fraught with problems. #FireLecce
What a way to top off the end of Education Week...great way to show appreciation for all the amazing work educators are doing under very trying circumstances
