Fourteen years ago, I met @jason_mraz.

(A thread about a tshirt, by David Hunter)
It’s early 2006, me and my mate Rob went to see Jason dressed head to toe in his merch and stopped for a preshow Starbucks.
I was halfway through a truly terrible cup of tea (Why, Starbucks? It’s like you’re trying too hard. Just serve PG Tips FFS) when Rob gets a tap on his shoulder...
Jason Mraz had spotted our merch from across the room, tapped Rob on the shoulder and said “nice shirt”, making him the coolest f*cker that ever lived. Like we didn’t already know.
Jaws dropped, photos were taken and we got to meet our hero. A glorious moment in all our lives.
Especially Jason’s.
I assume.
And so to my own opportunity to join HRH Jason Mraz as one of the world’s coolest f*ckers...
Having sold some of my own tshirts at the release of my EP, I spotted someone wearing one just yards from the Adelphi Theatre Stage Door...
I smiled and thought of Jason (as I often do - I love you Jason) and the day I met my hero. Perhaps now, fourteen years later, I, David Hunter, a man of such humble* beginnings could become a hero too.

*middle classed, privileged.
I wandered over and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned to me...
“Nice shirt” I say, my eyes beaming with Mraz-level star quality (I assume).

“Thanks” she replies, coldly.
SHE HAD NO IDEA WHO I WAS.
Ten yards from MY Stage Door, wearing one of MY tshirts, a tshirt that I packaged and posted out MYSELF, writing her address on the front in MY finest, most legible handwriting...
NOT A FLICKER.
And so, whilst I was robbed of my own Mraz moment, a new tshirt was born. I took control of my forgettable face by giving the world permission to ask:

“Who the f#ck is David Hunter?!”
And so, to celebrate tomorrow’s #throwback gig, I bring you this #throwback tee, available at http://thedavidhunter.com/store .

And while you’re on my site, take a look at a few photos and stuff so I’m not humiliated in the future. Many thanks.
