Thread: I want to adress the "issue" about the ratings.

This message goes for fans and lovers from the drama as well as non fans and antis.
I don't want to offend anyone, to bring some reassurance to the fans, and try to prove a point to antis.

#TheKingEternalMonarch.
First of all, if you truly consider 8% on ratings as low then you don't have any idea of how ratings work at all.

It might be difficult to understand, but what you need to know is that % is within the average-stable for free channels, going in the high direction.
Just like, a 6% would also be on the average-stable going more in the "low" direction, even if it's not low either cause it's still within the average.

The point is that you can't call a 8% low.
One digit doesn't mean bad ratings if it's above 6% in free channel.
Now that I put you into situation.
Let's move forward, we live in an era where it's so difficut for dramas to reach 10%, even less 20%-above.

Among all the dramas that air in one year, only 1 or 2 are able to hit the huge mark of 20% and just a few get to see the two digits.
All you gotta do is to check the ratings from all the slot of the week, all of those are between 2-5%.
Only a few get to see the two digits or surpass it.

I'm not trying to compare dramas nor disregard any story, I'm just pointing out how the situation for kdramas is this days.
With that difficult stuation for kdramas, do you truly think The Eternal Monarch is doing bad in numbers???
Cause I think it's the complete opposite, this drama is one of the only ones that get to see the highest percentage among all the ones that air within the week.
Keep in mind that on saturdays the ratings are much higher, with even more competition in the slot this drama got the hit mark of 10%.
That's such an achievement, now let me tell you that this % is already considered high in the ratings system.
Everything with two digits is.
Do you have a clearer picture now???
The ratings of The Eternal Monarch are balanced within average-high, everytime we get a change on the numbers is in the positive direction, it doesn't go lower than 8%.
Last friday 8.4%, yesterday 8.1%
I don't see that much of a difference.
People also tend to forget that the ratings system is not the only thing that we have to see how is it going:

Netflix.
Internet platafforms.

What's the situation in there??
This drama is number one in Korea's Netflix, just like in other countries.
What does that mean????
Obviously that is doing really well, that there are tons of people who watch it, aside from that 8%, some people clearly choose to watch it on Netflix.

If we counted those people that number would be much higher.
It's also a hit on international level.
This drama is also one of the most buzzworthy and threndy of the internet, countless of naver articles/clips with high views, trending topic on different social media, etc.

This drama has a very high response among viewers, most of it positive.
It's really popular.
With that been said, what's the problem then??
There's only one answer here:

The expectations of people.
It's Kim Eun Sook, Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun.

Lots o fans, and ppl in general, took the ratings from granted without keeping in mind the real situation of dramas this days.
In the moment you saw the cast and the writer your mind went like. "This drama is def gonna have within 15% or 20% of raings."

Without being realistic, I had in mind the difficult era the dramas are going through, so from the get go I knew this drama was gonna be between 8-12%
Which is why you took this 8% as a huge blow.
Because your expectations were too high from the very beginning when it comes to %, which lead you to be overdramatic and take it as a serious issue when in reality it's not.
I understand why you might feel sad or disappointed, I'm not trying to discard your feelings at all.
I'm just trying to bring some reasurance to yall.

If you come down from cloud 9 and see the reality, you'll see how strong this drama is remainning in charts, and %.
As I stated above, among all the dramas that are airing right now this is on the TOP 3 of those who get the highest ratings.
In an era where it's so hard to surpass the 5% mark.

8% might not be impressive, but it's far from being low.
So, I personally think that this is not a serious issue like some people are trying to make it look like or think.
I'm honestly impressed to see how well is doing despite all the obstacles, controversy, and difficult era for kdramas.

We should be happy to see this ratings.
My advice for you is to drop that dramatic mindse, cause this drama is far from doing bad in numbers.

Plus, even if that was the case, ratings don't define the quality of a drama at all nor how good or bad it is.
It's just a number that registers viewers.
That shouldn't stop you from enjoying it.
With that been said, it's pointless for you haters to mock this drama based on the % of ratings, if you do that then you are just clowning yourselves.
You're not proving a thing, just that you don' t have any idea of how that works.
If you want to look for reasons to mock it or discard it, work harder.
Cause attacking the ratings after everything I explained it's the most useless and pathetic excuse ever, an aspect where you're clearly wrong.

Be mature, and don't disguise it as "constructive" criticism."
I decided to make this thread cause every friday I see gloomy reactions from everyone regarding this matter, I thought it was something that needed to be adressed to bring some reassurence, and shut some mouths.

I apologize if It didn't work at all, at least I tried.
Lastly, don't worry cause this drama is doing really well.
The % can always get higher, isn't it??

I hope you feel better.
Let's enjoy together what's left of this ride.
