Sept 2015 fbi call yared. There's outgoing web activity with the specific /(redacted) all other info redacted by fbi. Till April 28 Yared cant find a match on DNC logs

This was DNC activities by fancy bear apt-29 dukes (russians) according to FBI attribution happened in july 2015 and through out till 1st quarter of 2016

In February 2016 yared meeting with FBI. FBI provides redacted list of timestamped records of this "/(redacted)" hash tag web traffic.

Yared still cant find any of these hundreds of timestamps in his firewall logs nothing matches what fbi says is happening.

Then also February FBI tells Yared of email phishing emails DNC received supposedly from same russian hacker and provides details of these emails.

Yared confirms they got the emails but all went to spam or deleted and unread.

As a former IT manager I can put myself in Yared position and thinking and everything he is saying makes sense at this point.

He' was told to go look at your outgoing web firewall logs look for this specific "/(redacted" as a sort of key search term in the log. Nothing found. Then go look again for it with this specific list of timestamped when it happened. Still nothing

Then told about specific emails received that were password phishing emails. He found these but they didn't succeed in the phishing.

Upto this point the attribution by the FBI is implied Russian.

Pseudonyms named APT-29 or dukes, gru, and cozy bear. All meaning RUSSIA

Yared turns over entire DNC email exchange server data 16gb to FBI on April 29, 2016. (1st time FBI gets data from DNC IT dept.) FBI now has all DNC emails.

Note: yared uploaded the 16gb somewhere. Doesnt say but gives FBI the password for dl. (Another possible path)

DNC COO Lindsey Reynolds and Perkins Coie, Michael Sussmann, and Graham Wilson are involved in the decision to hand over the DNC email data and logs to FBI in April 2016.

This discussion about april 28, 2016 is the first place I am thrown off. I'm not sure what exactly yared found but it relates around a possible windows server (remote) user log that is accessing multiple password vaults?? Im not exactly following this. What vault?

The april 28 logs and passwords vaults access is attributed by yared as APT-28 (just happens to be same day) pseudonym fancy bear.

The FBI contact from Sept 2015 to April 29 2016 with Yared is FBI Special Agent Adrian Hawkins, thanks to public info and Donna Brazzile book and thanks to @Titania977 for the lead.

Majority side (democrat) questioning of Yared Tamene ends at the time limit without a single question about anything beyond April 29, 2016.

Minority questioning does a good job getting it on the record at the start of his questioning of the limits of his questions. If his question does not fall within these four key scope areas it is off limits.

Also worth noting, Yared transfers the link and password to FBI via an outside DNC email. Another possible source of loss of control.

April 30 after the discovery of the windows log of password vaults access by Yared, DNC CEO Amy Dacey, COO Lindsey Reynolds, Andrew Brown, and Perkins Michael Sussmann, decide to hire Crowdstrike Shawn Henry.

Shawn Henry and Crowdstrike join the party May1 and for the next two weeks software tools from crowdstrike are flying onto DNC computers and without skipping a beat they find apt-29 and apt-28.

Even the minority staff questioning appears a bit of an idiot. And jumps from the 2015-april2016 russian hacks discovered on the network in early may (in over 10 systems) to confusion with July and Seth Rich. I dont trust the "we looked" answer by Yared. It was a C.Y.A. answer.

No details provided about the seth rich investigation like he did with the initial russia hack investigation.

They didnt look for a reason.
