I have refrained from saying this but i think it is important to put it out there. This thread is regarding the recent Instagram controversy, which resulted in the death of a young teenage boy.
To start, please understand the difference between opinion and judgment. No one had the right to jump to conclusions and start accusing the boy and giving him death threats or label him as a rapist or molester, considering none knew whether or not the allegations were true.
In a world ruled by technology there is nothing called a “perfect crime” there is always proof, which would have been found had this been reported to the authorities. The girl alleges that she did not want me meet the boy then she was under no compulsion to do so.
As the girl mentions she had a “FEELING” if she went back down she would be raped, thinking does not imply action. Tomorrow if I was to think that I am going to be kidnapped the police is not going to provide me protection. The world doesn’t work on thoughts and feelings.
If the aim of the girl was to put her story across then she would not have mentioned the name of the boy or his school. Clearly the motive here was completely different.
To those of saying that the boy jumping is a sign of his guilt, clearly haven’t been subjected to cyber bullying. The boy received threats, he was termed as a rapist and molester these terms are not easy to live with. Even if he was proven innocent the very doubt on his....
...character was something he would never be rid of. He would forever be termed as the boy who was accused of rape. Can anyone fathom the trauma he could have gone through in those 40 mins?
Those of you comparing this to the Nirbhaya rape case seriously need to get yourselves checked. There is absolutely no correlation here, the Nirbhaya case was the most horrendous and horrific case ever to have been reported. Clearly you are not aware of the details of that case.
Please don’t put forth stupid arguments like “why a 17 year old girl would lie about sexual assault?” If you guys haven’t realized the world does not work on rationality, if it did then these crimes would not happen in the first place.
Also for those of you who call yourselves “feminists” please learn the meaning of that term, it implies equality and automatically assuming that a girl is right and a boy is wrong does not imply equality.
Moreover educate yourselves before speaking. I would like to point out that the reason the #metoo movement died (this is the movement to which many are drawing references) was because at the end of it people were accusing whomever they liked either to get their 2 mins of fame..
.... or revenge. The movement eventually because a complete joke. Also read the laws regarding sexual assault and rape, they are not gender neutral. In fact they give preference to a female over a male.
Now to those of you saying that this incident will prevent people from coming forward, please understand that women in this country were not inspired by this girl. She was a no role model, do widen your horizons and stop seeing the world from your bubble.
I would like to end by saying that this thread is just to make people understand that there are two sides to each story and we need to give importance to both. As a women I would love to see the status of women improve across the world, but definitely not in this manner.
