NTR with a 1950 Jaguar XK120 in 1967 :-)

Also some interesting views of the Marina in 1967 in Madras including the SS Stamatis that ran aground in the cyclone of November 1966.
NTR driving what appears to be a 1939 Packard 12
(at least the Art Deco dashboard and steering seem to suggest so) in a moive circa 1970

He seems to have a car phone installed - an unheard of phenomenon in India, leave alone in movies.
NTR and cast of Lakshadhikari (1963) in a 1951(or 1952) Chevrolet Skyline Deluxe Convertible.

Headlights seem to have been blackened to avoid spotlight reflection
NTR seeing off Saroja Devi in a 1951 Mercury four door sedan with suicide rear doors

(Dagudu Moothalu , 1964)
Gummadi and Saroja Devi coming to meet NTR at his cafe in a two-tone 1956 Studebaker President four-door sedan

(Dagudu Moothalu, 1964)
Here is Karthi with the same car https://twitter.com/cinemapatti/status/1254002795205652481
NTR, SV Ranga Rao, Savitri and Relangi hop onto a 1954 DeSoto Diplomat Custom Convertible

Considering that this movie, Missamma was released in January 1955, the car was a brand new model.
Apparently some 70s Bollywood mediocre flick also featured it.
Bhanumati offers NTR lift in a 1946 Dodge D24 Custom four door sedan with suicide rear doors.
(Vivaha Bandham, 1964)

Chrysler marquees seem to have been more popular in Madras during 50s and 60s
Jaggiah with a 1949 Hillman Minx Convertible, a staid British car, for a change.

Taxi Ramudu (1961 ) in which NTR drives an imported (PAL) Fiat 1100 taxi
NTR meets with an accident involving a 1955 Plymouth Belvedere four door sedan in dual colours (Red and white)

Again, Taxi Ramudu (1961)
Interestingly the scene has a 1949 Buick Super convertible passes by in the same scene.

This movie was shot in Hyderabad and Madras. The Hillman is in Hyderabad. I presume this scene was a studio shot in Madras.

Now NTR did own a Buick but was this his?
Jaggaiah taking SV Ranga Rao to abandon him in a forest in a 1956 Plymouth Belvedere.

Gali Medalu (1962). NTR did not get to drive a car in this one.

The previous one I posted was also a '56 Belvedere wrongly identified as '55 model. The '56 model had more pronounced tailfins
A crippled SV Ranga Rao abandoned in the forest tries to hail a 1950 Willy's Jeep Utility Station Wagon unsuccessfully.

Gali Medalu (1962)
The Willys-Overland Station Wagon (various years of manufacture) has been appearing in Indian movies for a long time. The last time one saw it was in Barfi (2012)
NTR driving Jamuna to Marina beach close to University of Madras (Triumph of Labour statue) in a rare 1946 Singer 9 Roadster. He picked her up from Nagarjuna Sagar dam apparently.

Manchi Manishi (1964)

These Singers were all exported and were quite popular with Indian royalty.
Finally found NTR's Cadillac.

NTR and Chandrakala chat next to a 1952 Cadillac 60 Special (Fleetwood )with a V8 engine.

Thalla Pellama (1970). NTR's home production. Rod movie

Lovely car. TV Sundaram Iynegar family owned a very similar model.
The same movie also saw the return of NTR's 1939 Packard Twelve, with his son Harikrishna riding it.

This was the last V12 Packard manufactured and featured Art Deco ornamentations and a walnut veneer dashboard
In fact the car featured through a song in the movie. I would not have bothered with the song but for excellent views of the car in profile. Also interesting is the Cadillac posted earlier keeps appearing in the song every now simulating road traffic :-)
Vanisri and NTR walk past a 1966 Ford Zephyr 6 Mark III. This is not an American Ford but manufactured by Ford UK. The car was however designed by the Roy Brown who also designed the ill-fated Ford Edsel

Manushullo Devudu (1974). Another rod movie but for the car.
MAJOR CORRECTION:

NTR's Packard in this thread is not a 1939 Packard 12 but a 1938 Packard Super Eight with a V8 engine. Both the models featured Art Deco dashboards. Hence the confusion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packard_Super_Eight
A small digression before I resume searching classic marquees.
This is a 1947 Standard Eight Tourer with a 1099cc 8hp engine with a four speed manual gearbox. It was a competition to the Austin 8 as well as Morris 8.

Movie? "Paatha Saamanlu Konta!"
An obscure movie named Iddaru Pellalu (1954) starring NTR during his non star days.

Featured two soft top 1930 Ford Model A Phaetons!
Ramakrishna offering lift to Prabhakar Reddy in a 1954 Dodge Kingsway Convertible; Vijaya Lalitha picked up from the airport in the same car.

CID VIjaya (Tamil) 1971. Unusual movie. Telugu caste, yet a Tamil movie with poor lip sync. A typical low budget James Bond clone movie.
Here is Vijaya Lalitha in the same movie with the eautiful Ford Zephyr that we saw earlier in the thread
James Bond 777 (1971) starring Krishna and again, Vijaya Lalitha. This movie does not even pretend and went ahead infringing the copyright. But it had some good cars.
Firstly the 1962 Chevy II four door (not the Nova).
Then there were two 1967 Chevrolet Impalas both driven by regulation villain Kaikala Sathipandu :)

Impalas were more seen more commonly than Ambassadors in movies those days. Indians loved importing them
Finally, a rather classy looking 1955 Dodge Kingsway driven by Jothi Lakshmi picking up Krishna.

Again, a very popular car in Madras. MGR had one.
The 1966 Gudachari 116 disappointed. It did not have much to offer. At the beginning of the movie however, Shoban Babu ("Agent 303") can be seen driving this handsome 1955 Studebaker Commander Station Wagon bearing some Raymond Loewy design features
1962 Sabhash Suri, another obscure movie starring NTR and 😍Krishna Kumari.

Features only one car. A rare 1940 Dodge custom convertible with two spare tyres
Bharya Bharthalu (1961). Krishna Kumari 😍😍, ANR and Girija have an awkward moment. The 1954 DeSoto Diplomat makes an appearance again. This mode was meant for exports and was actually based on a Plymouth Custom. In the 2nd pic, you can see a 1956 Dodge Kingsway in the corner
Vaade Veedu (1973), NTR's second collaboration with Krishnam Raju. Another rod movie but with an excellent specimen - a 1949 Chrysler New Yorker Highlander Convertible.

That is almost 24 years difference between the movie and the car.
The age gap reminded me of one of the #Kvltest classic car inserts ever in Telugu film history.

50 years difference!

Indrudu Chandrudu (1989) featured this par excellent superbly maintained 1939 Buick Roadmaster Series 80 Phaeton with a waterfall grille.
This was a car as classic as it can ever get. A show stopper in any Concours d'Elegance. Only 300 or so were ever built and there are two of these in Hyderabad. Even Francis Ford Coppolla could not get one for Godfather

Ramanaidu/Surresh Krishna managed to get one :-)
Here is the other Roadmaster Phaeton of Hyderabad
Siri Sampadalu (1962). Austins were not uncommon back then but a 1950 Austin A40 Sports is definitely rare. It was not exactly a sports car (max speed was 100kmph) but more of a tourer. An oddity with it was a foot-operated headlight dip switch on the floor than next to steering
The real treat in Siri Sampadalu, however, was this 1956 Bedford SB bus. These were imported ones including the body works and this one was owned by TVS. The round decal on the side of the bus has the company's logo. Very popular in the Commonwealth countries
Aathma Balam, 1964.

1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Four door sedan
Anthasthulu, 1965. De Soto Diplomat Convertible yet again! Madras must have been crazy for them!

This time a deluxe version, however. You can just about make out a radio aerial. That is a luxury!
There seem to be two Diplomats used in the movie. The one at Napier bridge in previous tweet is lighter than this one with Bhanumati in the foreground which happens to be the popular song Dulapara BullodađŸŽ”
A Desoto Diplomat in Manushulu Mamathalu 1965. It's a base version. The dashboard has no radio and the clock is a local one.

Jayalalithaa's Telugu debut with a lot of fashion cues and a swimsuit song -Siggesthonda? :-)

Probably the only Savitri-Jayalalithaa combination ever.
Not an Ambassador, not even a Landmaster but a 1955 Morris Oxford Traveller (Series II)

Iddaru Mitrulu (1961)
Digressing briefly, Iddaru Mitrulu was about a rich man and his doppleganger. The movie also starred EV Saroja (who featured in the Morris Oxford Traveller pic with ANR).

EV Saroja has a doppleganger too --> @Vimraman
And of course, it is an ANR movie in 1961. Hence the inevitable De Soto Diplomat
Rangula Raatnam (1966). A diminutive 1928 Morris Minor tourer.

The 38 year old jalopy almost dwarfed by kids, had an 800cc OHC engine with 20bhp output and 700 kg kerb weight, bringing it close to a Maruti 800 :-)
While on Morris Minor, here is one from Santhosham (1955) being driven by Jamuna.

A 1954 Morris Minor Convertible. This one has no connection with the previous. It was a fresh new car of BMC and designed by Sir Alec Issigonis of the Mini fame.
There are many Minors in movies but this is the original BMC pedigree of '52. Later became Baby Hindustan under HM mfd in Kolkata.

BTW that ektara in NTR's hand has no relevance to the story which was quite an unusual one for its times. A revenge drama more suitable for late 80s
The Ford Model A Phaeton earlier in this thread reminded me of this one. A restored 1928 Ford Model A Tourer- front grille of the original was mesh-like, not fluted like this one.

Restored and owned by Capt KF Pestonjee of Hyderabad, a vintage car collector and owner of Chermas
