I’m delighted that the @metpoliceuk have confirmed they won’t be acting on the allegations made against Darren Grimes and Alan Halsall by the @ElectoralCommUK. This proves that the wild allegations made against @darrengrimes_ & Vote Leave since 2016 are completely baseless. (1/4)

Huge kudos to Alan, one the most decent, honest and kind men I know, and to Darren, an incredibly brave, fearless and principled young man who is an inspiration to so many people. Both of them are heroes for withstanding a 4-year witch-hunt by the Electoral Commission. (2/4)

The conspiracy theories around Vote Leave’s victory in 2016 were aggressively pushed by people who couldn’t believe that the country had voted to leave the EU and wanted to reverse the decision, which was of course reaffirmed by voters in 3 subsequent elections. (3/4)

The role & performance of the Electoral Commission should be carefully considered to prevent future miscarriages of justice. This was not a one-off example of them being party to a carefully orchestrated witch-hunt. Their recent performance has been woeful & undemocratic. (4/4)
