Prosciutto's Character Study a thread ☕:

Although Prosciutto is a minor character that very briefly appeared in Part 5, he has a ton of character and trademarks that he has shown within that short timespan, most notably him caring about his appearance.
Pros was grown to be into the mafia, which would make the younger him fear death (manifesting in his stand). As an assassin trainee, death around Pros was a common thing that he'd get to witness. His fear of death as an adult is clearly portrayed when Bruno drags him out of train
Why do I think he was harshly pressured by his watchful mentors to have a stand? Look at Prosciutto's behavior while mentoring Pesci. He has involuntary anger outbursts and specifically kicks alot which may have been used against him to discipline him into the perfect assassin.
This quote fellas, is what HE fucked up in before. Like Pesci he might've kept threatening to kill then failed to pull the trigger in the end. Let's look at his fight, why do you think Prosciutto used a gun to kill Mista instead of his stand? Because he's doing what he failed at.
So Prosciutto is a traditionally grown assassin since youth. He is even the most ordinary looking Squadra member making him seem like a character from The Godfather rather than from JoJo.
Back to the topic that Prosciutto values life and doesn't want to die. He doesn't hate himself like Fugo and proof of that is that his stand's mist doesn't affect nor hurt him. Prosciutto has a strong will to live and control over himself and his fears.
So Pros' main two fears that he buries deep down are death and failing. He panics instantly when his plan doesn't work, because his fear of failing rises (Prosciutto has a ton of panic manga panels). To add more onto his fear of death let's recall what he told Bruno as he fell-
"ARE YOU SUICIDAL BUCCIARATI?!" The fact he says this quote means he sees suicide/death as a major waste of oneself. He would rather suffer and live. Much like Fugo, Prosciutto was pressured throughout his life and sees many actions as irrational. (Bruno's betrayal + train jump)
This makes me think, if the boat scene happened with La Squadra, would Prosciutto ride the boat?
The answer is, yes despite knowing he's gonna die and despite being scared. Enter Risotto Nero's mission and his betrayal to the boss which Prosciutto went onboard.
Prosciutto never saw La Squadra as a waste despite them being Passione's dogs. He sees the good in everyone and genuinely cares about all members. He took Pesci under his wing, cares to lecture Formaggio to make him better, and even made Melone shake at the sight of his death.
Melone is a very detached character and yet was shocked Prosciutto died which shows how much Pros used to care about everyone in his team. He cares the most right after Risotto. Prosciutto also highly cares about La Squadra's image and reputation evident in assessing missions.
As someone born into the mafia he'd not only care about his team's image and relationships between members, but also about respecting authority. He'd want to know who his higher-ups are and whether they're worthy. So who are in authority over Prosciutto? 3 people.
Prosciutto respects authority and like Abbachio even needs them to guide him. Higher force and hierarchy is important to him no matter how rebellious and rowdy he may seem. Remember when I said first impressions matter? Now we know why Prosciutto is mostly depicted as a bottom.
Yeah laugh all you want but you know your first instincts are correct. He's depicted as a mom due to him being the second most caring member after the leader and as a bottom due to his obedience to higher-ups he respects like Abbachio.
Now the question is, would Prosciutto be a good leader if Risotto didn't exist? The answer may vary but he wouldn't be able to stay composed like Risotto if his teammates died under his leadership as he'd feel guilty a thousand more times (fear of failure)
So yeah, this thread was originally a discussion between @/cerealost and I, go follow them they're pretty cool and have great theories and art as well.
Guess I'll be adding more to this thread. Anything related to Prosciutto's character analysis will be under this thread. https://twitter.com/pendeller/status/1264467956475387904?s=19
