My wife has cancer and treatment is on hold because of the virus. We received a letter to shield at the start and are on the Gov list. Registering for online shopping doesn’t work as new customers have to wait weeks and most slots are booked well in advance, if you can register.

The friends that delivered the food live in London and decided to make that journey without telling us, as they knew we were at home and knew the problems we have experienced and rely on others to do our shopping.

They expected the roads to be empty as they too have not been driving. They were surprised with the traffic and hence the time taken. They were making a journey to help others and take food, well intentioned and know our plight.
