It’s pathetic that it takes a video of a Black person being lynched to be posted & circulated on social media in order to get the authorities to *begin* to hold the killers responsible. Sucks that it takes us having to be killed on video for the world to see so people can “care”
Just so tired of seeing Black people have their most terrifying moments be broadcasted for the world to see and watching people argue over whether they’re a good enough victim or not. At this point, and long before this point, this entire process feels vouyeristic. It’s gross.
Watching the online discourse happen around the murder of yet another Black person feels a lot like reading the media reports of lynchings that were written during many lynchings during the Jim Crow era.
We all gather around to watch this old American spectacle of a Black person being slaughtered & the whole gamut of emotions and reactions can be observed. Justice is rarely served, we move on, and repeat the process over and over and over again? When is it going to stop.
