As a woman academic, my credibility is constantly questioned on here mostly by people who have never bothered to read any of my publications or listened to any one of my talks (many of which are online), & yes it is a lot worse than what my male colleagues get. I am tired of it.
Yesterday someone tweeted this & it irked me. Thanks to all who piped in with support, but it pisses me off for my discipine(s): sociology, anthropology & gender studies, as if they are somehow not as serious or as important as econ, cs, or history. https://twitter.com/__Dragunov/status/1257769178951331840?s=20
Here are some of the talks that are available on-line for those who might be interested: a panel on my book on Muslim women in Delhi from KLF 2014 with @Nazish_Brohi:
A Ted Talk on whether we can imagine a more gender equal society from NUST last year:
My paper on Feminism and Fun presented at LUMS last year:
A Ted Talk from Habib University a few years ago on fear and the city:
A panel on Masculinities and Everyday Life with some wonderful colleagues at the University of Michigan a few years back:
And finally, the most academic conversation of all with our cockatoo, Guapo, who passed away a few years ago.
