Sands of Time #kacchako #kacchakothread

Bakugo is at his best friend, Uraraka’s wedding ceremony. However, he has been in love with her for the longest time and regrets not having confessed his feelings towards her. Eri, with Deku's help, gives him an offer he can’t refuse.
Bakugo was an early riser. He always was, but after drinking his sorrowful ass off the night before, he missed both of his morning alarms.

The clock read 10:00am. “Fuck.” He muttered as he hurriedly got out of bed. Trying his best to move as quickly as possible with a -
- throbbing headache, he took a quick shower and clumsily slid into his grey and blue suit.

Rushing out of his apartment, he weighed his options. If he was going to get a cab, he could get stuck in traffic at the 2nd intersection.
On the other hand, if he blasted his way to the venue, he could get to the venue in time but he knew his suit was not exactly explosion quirk-friendly. The ash-blonde opted for the latter.

Out of all the days, this was the one he couldn’t afford to be late at.
It was his best friend’s wedding, and he needed to be there no matter how he felt about it. As he blasted through the skies, he passed by the long roads filled with bustling cars baked under the brutal, relentless sun.
It stretched into the horizon in front and behind as far as the eye could see. Once he caught sight of the church, he powered down his quirk slowly, landing into the church balcony.

“Hey Bakugou, it’s not like you to be late.” Kirishima ran towards the ash-blonde.
“Tch. I’m right on time, just shut up and let’s hurry. Is everyone here?” Bakugou brushed the ashes off his sleeves.

“Yeah. Come on. The ceremony is going to start any minute.”

And with that, the two rushed towards the chapel.
----
“Chako, you look so beautiful… Who would’ve thought you’d get married before me?” Mina stood behind Uraraka, securing the brunette’s stray bangs into her bun.

“I know right? I always thought you would go first.” Uraraka chirped back at her best friend’s reflection on the -
- mirror in front of them.

“To be honest, everyone did but hey, I need a good love life first.”

“Well. It’s all been unexpected. You’ll meet your perfect one soon.”

“Hey. Just make sure you throw the bouquet towards me, Okay?”

“Of course. Just make sure to catch it!”
“Oh, you bet I will!” Mina winked.
--
Bakugo and Kirishima arrived in the chapel just in time and took their respective positions on the right side of the bottom altar step beside Deku. The green-haired man gave them both a pat on the back and Bakugou acknowledged him with a nod.
"Good to see you're not late. " Deku whispered to the ash blonde beside him.

"Oh shut up, Deku. I'm right on time. " Bakugo grunted, rolling his eyes.
"Well, if you didn't get hammered last night you could've come earlier to help with Shinsou. His nerves were all over the place. He almost ran out of the hotel this morning. If it wasn't for --"
"Tch. Mind Freak almost got cold feet?" Bakugou cut him off "Don't he dare walk out on 'Chako. I'll kill him." His crimson eyes shot at the lavender-haired man who stood across them.
He was wearing an all-white tux that would've looked majestic if not for the anxiety painted on his face. The guy was a sweating, nervous wreck. Bakugou wanted to punch the man's face for looking like that.

𝐼𝑓 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑚𝑒… Bakugou thought.
He imagined himself in place of Shinsou, looking towards the large church doors. He would have chosen a silver suit, and Uraraka would have forced him to accent it with a maroon polo and silver tie. His hair would still have its signature spikiness and his bride would -
- agree to keep it that way. If it was him… he would look damn excited.

𝐼𝐹 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑚𝑒…

A burning sensation rose from his stomach and up towards his throat.
He swallowed his dry saliva back down and just as the ash-blonde adjusted his collar, the large chapel doors opened and the music began to play.

The crowd seated in their aisles moved their heads towards the door and watched the entourage in pink slowly march toward the altar.
Once reaching the center, they moved into their respective seats.

Everything went silent for Bakugou when the bride took her first step past the doors. The voices. the echoes. The music. Everything slowly tuned itself out of the ash-blonde's ears.
He felt as if time slowed down for her.

He stared at Uraraka Ochako as she walked down the aisle with her father on her right. The bouquet of flowers entwined between her fingers held fast in her gloved hands.
As she took her steps into the grand church, the light reflected from the crimson bouquet which made her look dazzling in the spotlight.

𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙.
She was his partner... his best friend… his everything… and yet the lavender-haired man standing across him was the one holding her hand right now. Fucking lucky ass, teary-eyed Shinsou was the person his 'Chako was going to marry.

𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑'𝑣𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑚𝑒…
His heart was slowly breaking as he gazed at her hazel brown eyes. She had a radiant smile that could light up anything that was gloomy in the world; She looked happy. Oh, how he would kill to be at the receiving end of that smile.

𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝐼 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑒𝑠𝑠?...
Regret washed through the ash blonde as he reminisced flashes of memories they had together through the years. From the way her nose scrunched up whenever she pouted, to the way she smiled right back when he would shove her a box of mochi as an apology;
𝐼 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 ℎ𝑢𝑟𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ…

The way she snaked her arms across his broad shoulders and wrapped them around his neck, and how she rose up to her tiptoes and flicked his forehead whenever she wanted to tease him.
He stared at the brunette once more. They were saying their vows now. It was too much… his gaze fell from her eyes to her lips...

/𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑑𝑑𝑎𝑚𝑛 𝑙𝑖𝑝𝑠.../
Deku noticed his childhood friend's clenched hands shaking, and was biting his lower lip as if trying to hold back something. His crimson eyes were full of despair. Just a bit more and the dam behind his eyes would let loose all of his sorrows.
"Breathe, Kacchan." Deku said in a hushed tone and moved in front of Bakugo, blocking his view.

"Take it easy Bro." Kirishima did the same and stood beside Deku, completely blocking the ash blonde.
Bakugo was stunned. He was about to snap back at the two when he realized they were trying to save his sorry ass from embarrassment once again. They understood him too well.
"Tch" He smiled. He knew he didn't deserve friends like them… just like he didn't deserve the beautiful bride in front of the altar. He took a few deep breaths and quickly wiped his teary eyes.

"May I have the rings? " The priest announced.
Deku and Kirishima moved aside to let Bakugou pass through. He took one more deep breath, walked towards the couple, and handed a black box to Shinsou.

"Thank you." Uraraka said softly. Her soft hazel brown eyes met Bakugou's crimson ones.
He choked out a smile and gave her a nod as he walked back to his best friend and childhood friend.

Everything was getting blurry for Bakugou. It was all happening too fast.

"You may kiss the bride. "
That was it. He was too late. Regret came and as the newly wed couple kissed, he felt like he was slowly being stabbed by a hundred blunt daggers.

---
"Katsukiii~" Uraraka called out from the event hallway and rushed towards the ash blonde.

"Oi! be careful, Cheeks. You might trip on your clumsy ass again." Bakugou pulled a half-smirk, trying to gain back his usual snobbish composure.
Uraraka scrunched up her nose and gave her signature pout. "Hey. No pissing off the bride! Anyway, do you like my reception dress?" She twirled around, making the dress swirl with her movement.

Bakugou didn't understand why she had to wear a separate dress-
- for the reception when she already looked divine in her wedding dress. That didn't stop her from bugging him months before the wedding, asking his opinion apparently on almost everything girly for the wedding--including her dresses.
Deku and Mina helped with some details as well, but it was him who she dragged almost everywhere.

"Of course it looks good. I helped you pick it out remember? You wouldn't shut up about how that gown had fucking pockets. " He rolled his eyes.
"Oh my god. I know right? It's the best part of the dress. Thanks for helping me with everything Tsuki. " She placed both her hands in the pockets swaying it towards the ash blonde.

"Tch. Whatever, Cheeks."
"I brought you something by the way." The brunette grabbed one of Bakugou’s hands and placed 3 pieces of clear-wrapped orange-colored candies into his palm, enclosing it in his fingers using hers. “I just thought you might need it later.”
She winked at him and turned away trotting towards the elevator to head into the reception hall.

Bakugo opened his palm and stared at the candies. He scoffed. They were Habanero Chilli Candies, his favorite.
He would always eat 3 pieces at a time whenever he got nervous and he was about to give a speech at the reception today, which explained why Uraraka prepared some for him. Fuck. She knew him well… too well. She knew him more than he did himself.
He just finished choking back his tears an hour ago and his stomach was beginning to tighten once more. Trembling, he hurriedly opened the candies and shoved them into his mouth hoping the spice would bring back his poker face.

𝐽𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎 𝑓𝑒𝑤 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠. He thought
𝐼’𝑙𝑙 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠. 𝐹𝑢𝑐𝑘.

The room buzzed with excited chatter and the hero guests moved between the tables greeting each other as they would at a reunion. Then the bride and groom entered, applause spread across the room.
There was the scraping of chairs as folks got up for a standing ovation and the happy couple made their way to the head table, smiling and holding hands. They sat in front of a bouquet of baby pink roses and the groom leaned in for a kiss.
There were cheers and someone whooped. After a few moments Jirou, the toastmaster, rose from her chair and everyone else sat down. The sound of her teaspoon rapping on the side of her wineglass signaled everyone to silence.
“Ready for your speech, Kacchan?” Deku nudged Bakugou, who was absent-mindedly staring at the hall chandelier.

“I don’t know why she fucking chose me for this. Why couldn’t it be you instead?” The ash-blonde clicked his tongue, audibly chewing on the remaining morsels of spicy -
- candy in his mouth.

“We drew lots, remember? You get the speech, I get the AVP, and Mina--”

“Yeah yeah. I remember, just shut up. It’s just-- ugh” Bakugou exasperatedly ran his hand through his hair and down his face.
He looked pathetic as hell and he knew it. Deku and Kirishima knew it as well. They were the only two people who knew of his deep regret at never being able to articulate his feelings to the brunette.

Deku looked worriedly at his childhood friend.
He wanted to give him a shoulder to cry on or even a pat on the back for comfort but he knew that would just agitate the rage deep-seated within the ash-blonde. Besides, those gestures wouldn’t be enough to soothe whatever the poor guy was feeling right now.
Kacchan’s goal in life ever since they were kids was to become the number one hero and everything he did after that needed to be able to support his goal. Everything else was useless and not worth his time--until his fateful fight with Uraraka Ochako at their first-year sports -
-festival.

She was like a storm that came into Kacchan’s life. The way she never gave up. The way she gave her all. The way she almost gave him a heart attack with her last move. Deku knew his childhood friend well and how everything would change after that fight.
It started with Kacchan throwing seemingly innocent glances at the brunette during class, that lead to him asking her to spar with him every Tuesday and then hanging out late at night in the common room or to god knows where after--
it was their little secret apparently according to Uraraka but made it clear that she and the ash-blonde were just really good friends.

At first, Deku was worried for the brunette knowing how strong Kacchan was and how he didn’t hold back during matches,
she was his best friend too after all.

But when he noticed how happy Uraraka was after sparring with the ash-blonde and how her hazel-colored eyes softened whenever she would talk about him, Deku knew he was going to support his two closest friends no matter what.

---
“And now. A short speech from the best friend and partner of the bride, Bakugo Katsuki aka Japan’s No. 1 hero, Ground Zero.” Jirou announced.

Applause was heard throughout the hall and Bakugou walked up towards the podium. He took a deep breath and gave out an audible gulp.
“Cheeks…” He began. His low gravelly voice startled the brunette by the big table. “It’s been 10 years since I’ve kicked your butt during our sports festival.” The crowd roared with laughter and the brunette giggled.
“It’s also been 10 years since you’ve become one of the people I respect the most.” It was then when his deep crimson eyes locked in with her large hazel ones.
“10 years since we began sparring together and sneaking up into the dorm roof late in the evenings to have a shot of whiskey when Aizawa would kick our butts during midterms. It became a tradition throughout our stay in UA. Sorry old fart. ”
“I knew all about it.” Aizawa scoffed and the room erupted with laughter. Bakugo moved his gaze back at Uraraka who was wiping tears of laughter from her eyes.

“It’s been 10 years since.” Bakugo continued
since I’ve met the weirdest woman in the world. Sweet yet feisty, soft yet badass. She is pure guts and a whole lot of roundness in those delicate eyes. She always thinks of other people before herself, which is irritating at times,
but everyone in this hall has to agree it’s one of her best qualities.” He noticed tears falling from the brunette’s eyes. He let out a short cough to keep his composure.
“What I’m trying to say is… Anyone would be damn fucking lucky to have her, so you better take care of her and make her the happiest woman in the world, Mind Fuck. ” He glared at Shinsou, who scoffed and nodded back at the ash-blonde.
“...and make sure to keep her cheeks round or you know who's coming to get you.” He moved his gaze back to Uraraka who was sobbing and his scowl melted away.

"I hate you 'Tsuki. Do you know how long they did my make up?"
She chuckled as she wiped away her tears with the tip of her silk gloves.

He scoffed lightly and gave her the fondest smile that was reserved only for her.

---
The crowd focused their attention on the screen in front. Deku did a pretty good job of creating the presentation if Bakugou could say so. It was a heartfelt compilation of photos of key moments in Uraraka's life with their friends at UA.
Bakugou let out a soft chuckle when he noticed the brunette who was sobbing a few minutes ago was now bawling. He couldn't blame her, almost all their classmates in the hall were getting emotional as well as the video played on--including himself.
The ash-blonde couldn't help but notice that in almost all the photos where he was in, Uraraka was either pouting or angry. Trying to remember the events, he knew it must have been his doing. He really didn't deserve her, did he?
He pinched the top of the bridge of his nose in an effort to relax. This was not going any better, he just wanted to get out of there and drown himself in alcohol.
As the last photo faded away from the screen and the end credits rolled, a petite figure brushed beside the ash blonde. He tilted his head towards the bluish-haired girl with a small brown horn poking out of the right side of her forehead.

"Oi watch where you're going,Pipsqueak"
"Sorry, Bakugou san." Eri smiled at the ash blonde. "I'm in highschool now, you know. I think I need a new nickname." She chirped.

"Nah. Even if it's been 10 years, you'll always be Pipsqueak to me" Bakugou clicked his tongue.
"Well, it's also been 10 years since you liked Uraraka-san and never told her." She spat back.

"Woi! Who the fuck--"

"Izuku."

"Fucking Nerd… I'm going to kill him."
"Oh no you won't. You might just want to thank him." She raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean. What the fuck do I have to thank that nerd for?" He snapped at Eri.
Just as he was about to leave the hall to avoid impending chaos his brash personality might bring, he heard a snap beside him. His dark crimson eyes met the blue-haired girl's bright red ones and he noticed her horn glowing.
He felt a slight churning in his stomach for a second and looked around the hall. Everyone was frozen still in place except for him and Eri.

"What the fu--" Bakugou was stunned, but gained composure in an instant, realizing it was the girl's weird quirk.
"What the fuck are you up to?"

"I know you don't like beating around the bush, so I'll give it to you straight. I owe Izuku a favor." She walked towards the dessert table behind them and helped herself to some chocolate marshmallows, offering him some in the process.
"Go on, Pipsqueak. What does the nerd’s favor have to do with me?" Shoving her arm away slowly.

Pouting at him, she gobbled the marshmallow and continued explaining as she chewed on the sweet.
"Well, Izuku came to me last night to get that favor and it was a favor for you specifically…So, now, I'm giving you an offer you can't refuse."

Bakugou raised his eyebrow, still a bit irritated at the feeling of being toyed with by a high schooler, but curious nonetheless.
What would he nerd have requested for him? And why?

Eri washed down the sticky sweet with some water and held down Bakugou’s interest with a devious stare. "How would you like to go back in time?" She tapped the empty glass on the dessert table.
"Wha--” Dumbfounded, the ash-blonde stopped what he was going to say to let the teen continue her explanation.

"Izuku told me all about you and Uraraka. Honestly, everyone thought you two would end up together, even me. 10 years, Bakugou-san.
Izuku wanted to give you two another chance.”

Regret once again made its way into Bakugou’s system. He knew how much time he wasted. At some point in time, he somehow knew that what he felt for her was mutual, but he was too focused on his main goal.
After working his ass off for the past 9 years, he was Japan’s no. 1 hero now. He was supposed to be happy, dammit. But it felt so empty, so unfulfilling.

He bit his lip and opened his mouth and bit his lip "Why? I messed up. I don’t need the dam nerd’s pity."
"Because he genuinely thinks you'd make Uraraka happier. Shinsou’s cool and all, but Izuku thinks you and Uraraka deserve each other."

Bakugou didn’t hesitate when it came to fights. He always dove in head first and would execute an impromptu plan on the Fly. Go back in time?
Would that really be the right thing to do? He could hear Eri blabbering in the background about capturing the moment and choosing love for once. Would he be able to do it? Could he win her heart? Fuck it.

Bakugou gulped. "What do I do?"
The bluish haired teen explained a concept called time slip. Of all the photos in Deku's AVP where he and Uraraka were present, he would "time slip" through them and get the chance to relive the moment and possibly change the past.
"Bakugou-san, life is about moments. Don't wait for them. Create them. Are you ready?" She smiled at the ash-blonde who nodded almost instantly. She snapped her fingers.
Upon hearing the snap, Eri's brown horn began to glow. A warm sensation wrapped around his body and he felt his stomach twist once more. He winced as a shroud of light enveloped his well-built frame, shutting his eyes totally when the luminescence was too much to handle.
"Bakubro. Oi!" The ash-blonde heard a muffled voice. "Oiiiiii Bakugouuu." The voice was louder now, a strong nudge on his right shoulder followed.

Bakugou opened his eyes and he found himself seated behind a desk, in a familiar room. He was at UA, in their classroom.
He looked around and his classmates were all staring at him. Apparently, he’s been staring wide-eyed at the ceiling for god knows how long.

𝐷𝑖𝑑 𝐼 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑔𝑜 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘? He thought.
He hurriedly checked his phone. April 20th, 2015. His eyes widened at the realization and he slapped his cheeks with both hands. He came back to UA as a teen… in their classroom...It was their 2nd year.
"Bakugou, are you alright?" A familiar female voice snapped him out of his thoughts. An uncomfortable feeling settled in his stomach upon hearing his last name. He was used to her calling him 'Tsuki, but she only started calling him that by their third year.
He looked at the owner of the voice behind him. Large hazel brown eyes stared at him, filled with worry.

"I'm fine, Uraraka. I'm just fucking tired, 'sall" He managed to choke out.
"Here." She passed him 3 pieces of his favorite candies and gave him a sweet smile he grew to love so much throughout the years. "Take it easy."

He accepted the candies and muttered a soft thanks, which made the brunette blush.
Bakugou ate up the candies and stared at both his palms opening and closing them.

𝐿𝑜𝑜𝑘𝑠 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝐼'𝑚 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘… 𝑠𝑜 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑑𝑜 𝐼 𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑒𝑥𝑡?
