I think it is time to do the numbers. UK now worst death toll in Europe. Let's call that 60k (not yet but will be soon). UK population approx 60m. So that's one in a thousand people who have died.

That's ten times as many who've died in Germany (which has a higher overall population). For WW2 enthusiasts, that's 150% of the death toll of the Blitz. That's 1% of the Holocaust.

All due to a fatal combination of incompetence and greed. Mainly greed. Had hoped this crisis would be a wake up call to the humanity in members of the government, but they don't seem to have any.
