Most of fresh food productn n transportatn to urban markets is done by smallholder farmers who r constrained by lack of access to proper packaging, unreliable transport n logistical issues n the Govt lack of supp to facilitate for proper market facilities to cater for them/2
On top of everything else, fresh food is perishable so it's very stressful trying to offload the produce that's been in unreliable packaging diminishing qlty n qty at the same time pay accumulated debts n make a profit. (N if farmer flew to Pom to sell,profit is aft airfare)/3
The life of a fresh food farmer/ trader is very difficult in PNG. Appreciate the journey your food takes and those who have to hustle so you can have something healthy and fresh by buying local./4
