1st book finished for #asianreadathon: The Authentics, by Abdi Nazemian. Fit the challenge āread a book featuring an asian character or by an asian author you can relate toā because I too am a SoCal iranian american girl who drinks several cups of cardamom tea in one sitting.
Book #2 for #asianreadathon: Heroine Worship, by Sarah Kuhn. 2nd in the Heroine trilogy. (I swear the cover is on that ipad!) counting this as ābook recommended by an asianā bc my sister told me to go read it, even though I was the one who originally recommended Kuhn to her.

Book #3 for #asianreadathon: They Called Us Enemy, by George Takei. I donāt have a picture for this one, which is ironic since itās a graphic memoir. Anyway, I read it one quick go and cried, cause how do you not.
Book #4 for #asianreadathon: The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea, by Maggie Tokuda-Hall.
I donāt have the words to describe what a breathlessly splendid story this is. I read a library copy but Iām going to buy one for myself; I want to own this heartbreaking, enchanting book.

Book #5 for #asianreadathon (which just so happens to be my 1st for #tometopple): Steel Crow Saga, by Paul Krueger.
Iām glad I finally read this book Iāve meant to read for almost 2 years, because I loved it exactly as much as I knew I would.

Book #6 for #asianreadathon (Iām done with toppling tomes & back to this!): I Believe In a Thing Called Love, by Maurene Goo.
as all 3 of my niblings love to say, itās so cuuuuute!
just the breezy sweet little romcom I needed. (Also itās really hard to photograph ebooks!)

Book #7 for #asianreadathon: After She Wrote Him, by Sulari Gentill. Reminiscent of Mr Fox but with both a narrower focus and a more satisfying conclusion (bc of the narrow focus, I suspect). A short, tightly-constructed read; I loved it and wish Iād written it.
Book #8 (& almost certainly last) for #asianreadathon: Anna K, by Jenny Lee. A Gossip Girl-y adaptation of Anna Karenina? Hell yes. Itās fun, itās soapy, itās got a weird underdeveloped prose style but im okay with that, & Iām obsessed with the cover.
Iām obviously not gonna stop reading books by asian & asian American authors just because this readathon is over, that would be both weird of me & pretty freaking sad when I realized I never got to read some of my fave authors again. but it IS the end of...this thread!
