He is Onon a Cuckoo. This bird was in Kenya on 29th April. Today he is in Madhya Pradesh. He has completed his crossing of the Arabian Sea to India and, for good measure, flown another 600 km inland also. It is 5000 Kms flying in a week. Feel that amazing feat. @BirdingBeijing
Imagine non stop flying over Arabian sea for days & for thousands of kilometres. Which machine can beat nature.

“He’s wearing a solar-powered transmitter, the signals from which are picked up by satellites and sent to a ground station in almost real time.” For info.
You can ask questions about technology, methods, processes of tracking birds. They will be answered by @BirdingBeijing. Shoot.
They don’t stop on water. They fly non stop. They don’t eat also while flying over Arabian sea. They store energy in advance before starting the journey.
He is Bayan. Another Cuckoo wearing a solar-powered transmitter, the signals from which are picked up by satellites. He is closely following path of Onan & soon will cross Arabian Sea. He was in Somalia on 2nd May & flying without any rest. This is incredible.
Meanwhile BAYAN is now in Gujarat, 25km west Bhavnagar. Meanwhile. He who was in Somalia on 2nd May has crossed Arabian sea. ONON hasn’t taken much of a rest. He’s moved another 800km and is now far eastern Madhya Pradesh, 30km north of the town of Singrauli. Incredible.
So both have crossed Arabian Sea. What an incredible non-stop journey.

For how they are being tracked; They are with transmitters. Signals from transmitter picked up by ARGOS satellites and sent to a ground station in France. Then accessed.

Now both will head toward Mongolia.
So Onon has crossed India & now is in Bangladesh. The bird covered 6300 kms in just 7 days. Which machine can beat that.

Bayan is still in Gujarat. Incredible is the word.
Following the Onon BAYAN is now just a little northwest of Kolkata in West Bengal. He has covered 5,800 in last 7 days.

He is closely following the path of Onon who crossed India yesterday. So by today Bayan will also enter Bangladesh.
ONON;

29 April – signal puts ONON in Kenya

1 May– next signal puts ONON in Somalia and on his way

6 May – signals picked up by satellites show him in Bangladesh

Total journey: >6,300km

time taken: 6 days, 17 hrs.

Which means 40 Km/hr for 7 days continuously. Incredible.
What incredible journey. BAYAN has overtaken ONON. He was near Kolkata yesterday, now in Yunan province of China. That's 7,200km in 7 days.

ONON crossed Bangladesh & now in Meghalaya.
