Today continuing with the 1965 #Ferrari bumper, I tackle the really nasty damage in front of the bumper iron mounts
To do this I need to get between the mount and the bumper to knock from behind
It has to be cutout & welded back after
On inspection someone has done this before

Right that’s stage 1, working out these dents behind the first mount bracket out with the hammer
Picture 1 shows the dents
Pic 2 is at 18” away & reasonable after hammer
3 & 4 in close up showing file stage required next as in videos
I’ll do next bracket first & file in one

After a good day with my trusty hammer I’ve managed to get pretty much all of the remaining dents out the #Ferrari bumper
Quite therapeutic in a sense but I’m leaving the file stage for tomorrow as to be fair I need a break (bit tedious this hammering lark)
Looks better though

Much of the same today, getting the hammer marks out
1, Hammered out dent
2, Smooth filed
3, Wet & Dry down to 800
4, Brasso Polish on 1200 to finish
That’s the N/S Mount point done, now for the centre & O/S Mount

Right, the middle section
Inbetween the number plate lamp mount holes I counted 27 dents in 12”
So a repeat of the process & 3 hours later they’re gone
Think I’m gonna leave the last bit by the O/S Mount until tomorrow & go paint the back of my workshop for a break instead

With my neighbours replacing the garden fence unannounced & all the work required to put my side back to some sense of order, I didn’t get time to carry on with the #Ferrari bumper dent removal until today so I thought it time to continue this little tweet progress thread

A little interim video insight into 1960’s #Pininfarina #vintage #Ferrari Bumper construction I thought I’d share with you as I work over every mm of this bumper during the restoration
Understand the construction makes for a honest, faithful & sympathetic result
