Up thinking about how a lot of black girls spend their pre-teens feeling ugly because of anti-black jokes made about them at school.
That was my experience. I don’t look any different in the face from when I was in 6th grade. I was never “ugly” but going to a majority white school, they talked about my braids, my fits, my lingo. The worst to do It were boys and the yt girls.
This is great book for girls and teens to read. It focuses on the trials of a darkskin girl in highschool. Its a good read brown skin and darkskin girls alike. I’m sure many of you have already read It :)
Whew Chile the typos but yes read this book. And honestly anything by Sharon G Flake. Her stories always had black leads and were really good at dissecting the tricky road that is adolescence and puberty.
