I& #39;ve made mistakes, lost money, and wasted a ton of time to figure out how this whole "online business" thing works

But I& #39;ve learned a lot

And in this thread, I& #39;ll hopefully share some of those lessons

Here are 8 reasons why you fail to convert people into $$$

~ THREAD ~
1. You talk about yourself and NOT the customer

A lot of companies have a tendency to talk about:

* Years they& #39;ve been in business
* Where their products are manufactured
* Number of employees they have

None of this matters.

Your reader ONLY cares about what& #39;s in it for THEM.
2. You don& #39;t tell stories

What do you think sounds better?

A) Buy this watch

B) Created by two broke college kids who believed having style shouldn& #39;t break the bank. We started this company to disrupt the overpriced and outdated models of the watch industry...

Stories sell.
3. Not using logic to justify emotions

If you& #39;re selling a car

You want to trigger their emotions by saying:

"What will your co-workers think when they see you pull up in a better car than them?"

Then:

You help them justify it with logic by explaining how great it is on gas.
4. Not niching down

If you try to sell to everyone, you& #39;ll end up selling to no one.

You need to form a DEEP connection with your customers.

Understand their fears, desires, regrets, etc.

You won& #39;t be able to do this when you target broad.
5. Trying to re-invent the wheel

Don& #39;t waste your time trying to think of a brand new "groundbreaking" idea when there are decades of data showing you what people buy, and what they don& #39;t buy.

Figure out what people buy, alter some aspects to make it unique, and profit.
6. Talking about features, not benefits

Airpods don& #39;t sell headphones, they sell social status

Gyms don& #39;t sell memberships, they sell the dream of having rock hard abs

Gurus don& #39;t sell courses, they sell the idea of being having freedom

Don& #39;t sell the product, sell the result
7. Focusing on the product before the audience

It& #39;s always better to base your brand on a SPECIFIC type of person first

And then, figure out what products/services these people are hungry for.

Products die out fast.

Types of people tend to stay around.

Longevity is the game.
8. Being too boring

99% of people go on the internet to be entertained.

So:

Having videos, copy, and imagery that entertain your audience is crucial.

- Use their lingo
- Be self-aware
- Be funny/outlandish

Just don& #39;t be boring.
