It’s a good day to account for facts about U.S. politics and #Venezuela. Since @TheDemocrats took control of Congress last year, they have led every legislative initiative in support of the Venezuelan people.

But don’t take our word for it. Here’s the record 👇🏾
@RepDarrenSoto’s Venezuela TPS Act of 2019 passed the House on July 25, 2019. Senate Republicans continue to block its passage. And President Trump refuses to take action which he could do unilaterally with the stroke of a pen to grant #TPS4Venezuelans.
@TheDemocrats from #FL also authored key pieces of legislation holding Maduro accountable and to provide humanitaria assistance to the long-suffering Venezuelan people. These pieces of legislation passed Congress and became law in December 2019: 👇🏾
1. HR 854 ( @RepDMP), the Humanitarian Assistance to the Venezuelan People Act of 2019 which increases life-saving humanitarian aid to the Venezuelan people.
2. HR 920 ( @RepShalala) the Venezuela Arms Restriction Act which bans the export of defense articles and crime control materials to Maduro’s security forces.
3. HR 1477 ( @RepDWStweets) - Russia-Venezuelan Threat Mitigation Act which sanctions Russians nefariously supporting Maduro.
4. @SenatorMenendez VERDAD Act was passed by Congress and signed into law in December which extends sanctions on the Maduro regime and provides humanitarian aid to the Venezuelan people.
All these now laws, sponsored by @TheDemocrats, received bipartisan support, except #TPS4Venezuelans. Then why if the @SenateGOP recognized with other laws the oppressive nature of the regime and the humanitarian crisis in #Venezuela, the deny #TPS?
Finally, this week democrats @RepEliotEngel & @RepSires sent a letter to Secretary of State Pompeo urging the Trump Administration to no longer freeze life-saving humanitarian aid to the Venezuelan people through the Pan American Health Organization https://twitter.com/apjoshgoodman/status/1255999853446004742?s=21
In the meanwhile, Venezuelans are facing deportations & some detention in the US. As much as 150,000 seeking refuge in the U.S. from oppression and the humanitarian crisis are unprotected. It’s the duty of Citizens of Venezuelan origin, like myself, to advocate #TPS4Venezuelans.
