seokjin's endless mistreatment by bighit; a thread.

note: this will be a very long thread as seokjin’s mistreatment goes way back to their debut days, so please bare with me! also please lmk if i forgot to include some things and i’m sorry if it becomes messy!!

1.seokjin’s extreme diet and comments:seokjin used to receive body shaming comments back in their debut days from both his manager and bang pd, telling him he was too fat and had to lose weight even though he was not fat AT ALL.This eventually led to him having an extreme diet-

in which he ate only 2 chicken breasts a day for a whole year. even his manager commented on his weight,but fortunately he got fired as he was caught slapping one of the other members

2. the seokjin we all know now - the goofy, funny and bright person- was not supposed to be the seokjin we had to see. Bighit forced him to be this cold, handsome and silent guy and he had to go as this person he was not for years. -

fortunately, Seokjin started breaking out of his shell in 2015/2016 and after fire era, he finally showed his real-self.

Now onto the bigger forms of mistreatment: the lack of lines and screentime he has been getting since their very first day. Here are just a few examples to prove his lack of lines:

The peak of the lack of lines and screentime are not today and blood sweat and tears; he got in not today just one line and 1 sec of screentime, while in bst he only got one shared line

Seokjin has been told by the company that his voice suited ballads the most, yet for the biggest part of his career he didn’t get lines in those either (2nd pic is for house of cards)

Aside from not getting lines, Seokjin also didn’t get many centerparts during bts’ performances.A great example of this is the end of 2016 , where all of the members (except for yoongi, who was injured at that time)  got a main part in one of the covers they did, except for him

- He was treated as a mere backup dancer and got pushed back the whole time.

He only got a handful of centerparts , and most of them are only from the recent years. Before that, he got continiously pushed back, despite being labeled as the ‘official visual’ by the company. This picture shows the center distribution till ly:her era

Also not to add the fact that in bts’ whole discography, Seokjin started a track only thrice: in autumn leaves (for which he had to beg yoongi for it), in jamais vu (a sub-unit track) and come back home ( a cover).

All of this has lead to seokjin genuinely believing he’s less worthy than the other members and thinking he is less of an artist compared to the others. His confidence got completely shattered, both by the company AND by fans. He even did this recently

Seokjin is supposed to be the group’s visual and just a mere member of the group, yet he gets countless of times excluded from ot7- related things, both by the company and by international newsoutlets. Here are just some of the examples done by Bighit:

During the docu-series, Seokjin was the only member without an episode and had on top of that only 15 minutes of screentime. He was purely used as a comedic relief, and we didn’t get much of his thoughts and feelings either. Seokjin has spoken about this multiple times:

Seokjin is known to be an acting graduate from Konkuk, a very prestigious university. He got into the university on early admission, with an acceptance rate of 1:200.Despite all of this Seokjin hasn’t made an acting debut, nor does the company use his acting skills for the group

He has expressed his desire to act many times and even discussed the possibility to act with Bang PD, who told him he’d get to act once the group was doing well. Now that they are doing more than well, Seokjin has yet to debut as an actor

Even when it comes to acting within the group, he’s given the most minimalistic roles. A very great example of that is House Of Army, in which he got the roles of a postman, a sunflower, a clock and a banana and had no dialogue or whatsoever, while the other members had

-actual roles and screentime. Seokjin even expressed his disappointment and how he wanted more, but he couldn’t speak up.

Another example is the BU, in which his only role is to stare into the camera all the time and do the bare minimum.

Seokjin couldn’t attend his graduation, despite it being one of the most important things in someone’s life and surely more important than an awardshow. However, the company did not let him attend the graduation. It was very obvious that Seokjin wanted to go, he was very absent

-during the award show and both seokjin and the members expressed how much he wanted to go. Yet once again, Seokjin could not speak up.

During KCON 2016 , Seokjin had very obviously injured his neck. He was in constant pain, yet the company did not release any statement regarding the matter, nor did they do anything to help him.

Despite all of this, seokjin has always been the most positive person and not even once complained about anything, but kept working hard and showed us the best part of himself

The stylists have also doon a very poor job clothing seokjin a handful of times. They kept on giving him torn clothes, multiple times

Also to add on seokjin's heavy diet, it led to him having avitaminosis, the lack of vitamins, which is not suprising at all considering how there was no variation of food in his diet.

This is summary of what has happened to Seokjin through the years. This thread is not meant to victimize him or whatsoever, it’s just to show all of you that there is a good reason as to why seokjin stans are so loud and assertive when it comes to him.

The truth is, he IS been getting mistreated by the company endlessly for years now, and there has to be an end to it. All of us want him to shine equally along with the other members.

We want him to have opportunities to prove that he is a wonderful, versatile artist, nothing more than that. BTS are a group of seven people, they all deserve to shine equally together!
